Touring and Tasting

Hey, check it out! Olsen Family Vineyards is featured in the Spring/Sumer 2008 edition of Touring and Tasting. If you are interested in learning a little more about our winery and our Viridian wines, our location and our philosophy, this article is a great place to start.

Here is my favorite excerpt:

When it came time to name the first vintage, Jamie chose Viridian. “Not a lot of people know this, but viridian is a color, halfway between the blue skies of Oregon and the green, growing vines,” Jamie explains. “The label is done in a vivid water color designed to capture where the wine came from. To give people a feeling for the intensity of the aromas and flavors inside.” Viridian wines are estate grown, crafted from estate fruit from all five vineyards. The 2006 Viridian Pinot Noir is a deep ruby red, medium-full-bodied wine which stands up well to spicy and flavorful foods. The 2006 Viridian Pinot Gris emphasizes the quality of the fruit from which it was made. It holds its own (the Olsens think it is even better than other white varietals) when paired with rich or zesty foods.
